What happens at a limit

A structural limit – Identities, Allowed Recipients, custom domains – declines the action until you move up a plan, and Credit never buys one. The two consumption allowances, Tunnel transfer and mail sending, may run past their limit on Pro and Max by spending Credit you loaded first, at the unit prices under them above. With Credit switched off, or with the balance spent, the allowance is the same hard stop it is on Free. If you move up mid-month, the higher plan and a new month start when you pay, and the unused days of the month you have paid for are taken off that first payment.

Credit

Credit is prepaid and never postpaid. On Pro and Max you load a euro amount first, and the two consumption allowances above – Tunnel transfer and outbound mail – may then run past their limit by spending it. What you load is the most that can ever be spent: no invoice follows, and there is nothing to cancel. German surfaces call it Guthaben.

What consumption costs

Tunnel transfer
€0.10 per GB
Outbound mails
€1.00 per 1,000

Both figures are final prices, and they are drawn from Credit held in the same euros: load €10 and €10.00 of Credit arrives, in every EU member state, and €10.00 buys 100 GB everywhere. Nothing is added at the till and nothing is added when it is spent.

Loading Credit

  • €10
  • €25
  • €50
  • €100

Four fixed amounts and nothing in between, each paid once. Nothing renews and nothing loads itself: there is no automatic loading to switch off. Each figure is the total price and is credited in full. Loading is done in the console, on Pro and Max.

Questions about Credit

Does Credit expire?
No. What you load stays until it is spent, with no deadline on it. If your Org moves down to Free it is frozen rather than taken: nothing can be spent from it on Free, and it is all still there when you move up again.
What happens to Credit we have not spent?
If your Org closes, we pay back whatever is unspent. Withdrawing from a Credit purchase works the same way: the unspent part is refunded, and only what has already been spent is not.
Is Credit switched on from the start?
No. Spending beyond the plan limits is one setting on your Org and it starts off. With it off, or with nothing loaded, a spent allowance is the same hard stop it is on Free – we take nothing and bill nothing.
Does Credit lift any other limit?
No. It carries the two consumption allowances and nothing else. Identities, Allowed Recipients, custom domains and the daily recipient cap stay exactly where your plan puts them, at every amount loaded.

Allowed Recipients

Outbound mail from a Mailbox is deliverable only to an Allowed Recipient: an address or a domain that a human on the account has approved with an Admin Key, or that was granted automatically to a sender whose own mail reached the Identity and proved its origin. Every other recipient is refused. This is a property of the service, not a setting – it cannot be switched off on Free, Pro, or Max. Inbound mail is never restricted.

Each Plan caps how many Allowed Recipients (§ 1) a human may add by hand: Free 10, Pro 100, Max 1000, Enterprise by agreement. Entries granted automatically to a verified sender are not counted against that cap.

Those two paragraphs are § 1 and § 3 of the Terms of Service, word for word: this page is part of the contract, so it carries one version of the rule and one version of every number. Read the Terms.
